For the 13th edition in 2026, the First Prize-winning interdisciplinary team Shape Blank Atelier presents The Jade: Plaza Calls to Plaza. By lifting sections of the serpent-patterned brick paving in the plaza of the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, the work responds to the environmental conditions of the outdoor public space. Through the imagination of what is “blank” and “absent,” it creates new spatial possibilities and engages the museum in a dialogue that fosters a more open and welcoming presence.

About Motion
For the motion design, using the mirror as a metaphorical link between interior and exterior, reality and illusion. Through the act of “lifting” and “revealing” the serpent-patterned paving, it activates the textures and traces embedded within the site, bringing to light conditions of the outdoor plaza that have previously remained unnoticed or difficult to perceive. At the same time, the animation is constructed through the logic of reversed imagery, seeking to create a sense of non-linear time and thereby extend and reimagine the inherent qualities of the plaza.
